Working Student (m/f/d)
The task
We work on data platforms, analyses and interfaces for the operators of plants and grids. A good deal of that is work that can be handed over cleanly: connecting a data source, recomputing an analysis, building a view, writing documentation somebody else can actually use.
Where you start depends on what you bring with you — data processing and pipelines, analytics and models, or the surface the results end up on. We set the focus together, and move it when your interests move.
You work on real projects, not on a practice project. What you build goes into operation — and because our teams are small, you see the whole way from a measurement point to a display.
The commitment is 16 to 20 hours a week, flexible during term and reducible around exams. We plan around your semester rather than against it.

Your work and what it takes
What you do
- Connecting and preparing data: interfaces, time series, plausibility checks.
- Computing analyses and making them traceable — in Python or SQL, with a result somebody in a control room or in a report can use.
- Building views and components: tables, charts, status displays — with the design system that this repository is.
- Writing up what you did, so that somebody else can carry it on.
- Checking for yourself that it works — with real data, not only with the example that happens to fit.
What is required
- Programming in at least one language. Ours are mostly Python, SQL and, at the surface, HTML, CSS and some JavaScript.
- Care with data: the willingness to check an implausible result rather than pass it on.
- Git, and the ability to write a change up so somebody else understands it.
- Enrolment at a university for the duration, in any subject.
- German or English — one of them confidently, the other passively.
What helps and is not a condition
- Experience with time series, measurement data, or the energy sector.
- Contact with cloud tooling: Databricks, Spark, containers, or any form of ETL.
- An eye for typography and grids, or the interest in developing one.
- Curiosity about the context: where the number you are processing comes from, and who reads it later.
- Your own projects. We would rather look at those than at a cover letter.
